Uniquely Specialized Care
A women’s-only comprehensive continuum of residential care:
Since 1988, Chrysalis Society has supported over 3,500 women throughout B.C. Chrysalis Society is a registered Canadian Charity that operates four programs; three long-term addiction recovery homes and subsidized housing for marginalized women in Vancouver.
Chrysalis has a long-standing reputation for working with highly marginalized women with complex mental health issues. Chrysalis supports women prescribed medicines that often hinder eligibility for other inpatient addiction programs. Chrysalis recognizes the intersections between women’s addiction and their experiences of violence, exploitation and homelessness.
For many women who have graduated from our programs, reunification with children and renewed relationships with family and community have become realities.
SUCCESS STORIES
New Dawn, New Day & New Way recovery homes offer women safe, supportive, home-like environments in which women, including trans women, can empower themselves to learn new ways of living with the support of professional staff.
We offer a continuum of care that demonstrates how to live in recovery through education and holistic practices. Here are some personal journeys.
Our Impact
New Dawn – 1st Stage
Stabilization Transitional Living Residence
New Dawn is a long-term recovery home where women have the safety and post-detox programming and structure they require to heal and stabilize. Chrysalis recognizes the intersections between women’s experience of addiction and their experiences of poverty, violence and exploitation. We recognize gender-based systemic barriers, from simple resource availability (eg: ratio of detox beds for men versus women is 6:1) to medical bias (eg: women are far more pathologized/overprescribed than men).
