Board of Directors

Our Voluntary Board of Directors is comprised  of dedicated individuals who have made a commitment to lend their skills, energy & passion for social change to empowering women's healing & recovery from addiction & violence. Board roles include: Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, Secretary & Directors.  Directors may also form committees as means to achieving specific goals.

We are currently seeking passionate, energetic, individuals to join our Board of Directors & actively contribute to positive change for Chrysalis & women healing from addiction, violence & poverty!

Minimal requirements are:
  • a willingness to be proactive & constructive within Board processes & as a community representative of our Society & Mission
  • a willingness to promote, network & raise funds & in-kind supports for Chrysalis via community & online social media
  • a one-year commitment to attendance at Board meetings at our Head Office (every second month) & up to 8 additional hours per month of community networking, fundraising or other work related to Board governance and/or business

Assets are:

  • an understanding of and/or passion for grassroots action as a vehicle for social change
  • an understanding of our Society's goal to, with a feminist approach, create an operational culture that balances social community & business practice
  • an understanding of gender-specific stigmas associated with addiction, violence, poverty & exploitation, and how they relate to the systemic barriers faced by women
  • an understanding and/or working knowledge of the world of non-profits & women's resources

Your skills, knowledge & experience in any of these areas are an asset to our Board:

  • your own and/or a loved one's recovery from addiction
  • non-profit social/addiction services for women
  • licensed, residential supportive-recovery services for women
  • organizational and community networking
  • volunteer recruitment and coordination
  • community event planning & organization
  • community- and/or corporate-level fundraising
  • non-profit/business law
  • accounting & finances
  •  marketing, media and public relations
  • non-profit organization & administration
  • grant & proposal preparation/submission
  • committee work

 * Chrysalis Alumnae, individuals in recovery, and those personally impacted by addiction, violence, poverty, and/or other related forms of stigmatized marginalization are encouraged to apply.*
