Women Helping
Women Heal

When women heal from addiction and violence, so do their children, families and communities. By supporting Chrysalis Society you’re helping women access the supports they need to overcome the devastating impacts of addiction, poverty, and violence.

ABOUT US

What is Chrysalis Society?

A women’s-only comprehensive continuum of bed-based care:

Since 1988, Chrysalis Society has supported over 3,500 women throughout B.C. Chrysalis Society is a registered Canadian Charity that operates four programs; three long-term addiction recovery homes and subsidized housing for marginalized women in Vancouver.

Chrysalis has a long-standing reputation for working with highly marginalized women with complex mental health issues. Chrysalis supports women prescribed medicines that often hinder eligibility for other inpatient addiction programs. Chrysalis recognizes that women’s addiction can go hand-in-hand with their experiences of violence, poverty and homelessness.

For many women who have graduated from our programs, reunification with children and renewed relationships with family and community have become realities.

HER Stories

New Dawn gave me a safe and gentle home when I felt defeated and could not love myself. It gave me hope when I had none, encouragement, and the belief that I too could recover no matter how deep I had fallen. I was welcomed with open arms and listened to without being judged. I look forward to giving back the messages of hope, love and faith that we can recover.

When I made the decision to ask for help, Chrysalis Society took me in. They gave me a home and cared for me. They believed in me. They gave me the tools to start building a new life for myself.

Entering New Dawn was the beginning of my journey out of the loneliness, pain and isolation of addiction. I resided as a client within Chrysalis Society for 17 months. In that 17 months I learned how to live with other women, how to talk about my feelings all within an environment where I was supported immensely by caring staff.

Since starting this program I have grown so much as a person. I've grown in ways I honestly didn't think would be possible. The things I have learnt while living here are life changing for me. The staff and programming here have been an anchor in my recovery. I feel so blessed and privileged to have them be a part of my journey. Thank you so much for always making me feel safe, supported and heard.
